Bush promised Israel American support and protection

US president George Bush has entered Parliament of Israel with a solemn speech and promised the Jewish state American support and protection in the face of existing and future threats.

The host of the White house began his first entry congratulating the Knesset in Hebrew "With Independence Day!", which has caused in the overflowed hall a storm of applauses which further numerous times interrupted the speech of the American guest.

"Some say, that if the United States suspend their relations with Israel, all our problems in the Near East will be solved... Which America rejects vigorously", Bush said.

"In Israel live little more than seven millions people, but when you resist to harm and terror, you become 307 million because America is with you", the head of the White house continued.

He has mentioned his morning trip to the antique fortress Masada where in the first century of our era the Jewish insurgents were resisting for a long time the impact of the Roman legions and preferred death to captivity and slavery.

"Israeli soldiers take a vow in this historical place in which there are such words:" Masada will not fall again". Citizens of Israel, it will not happen second time, America will always be with you", Bush told.

He made it clear that Washington sees in Israel one of its allies in the struggle against extremist forces in the region among which Bush named "Al Qaeda", the Lebanese movement "Hezbollah" and the Palestinian HAMAS, supervising Gaza Strip.

Iran was mentioned separately, whose nuclear program in combination with an Antiisraeli rhetoric, Israel considers as threat number one for its safety and existence.

"To allow the main sponsor of terror to receive the most lethal weapon in the world would be an inexcusable treachery to the future generations", Bush told.

Stepping in the Israeli Parliament finished the working part of the three-day visit to Israel of President Bush. In the evening he and his spouse Laura are going to give solemn reception in the halls of the Museum of Israel, then are go for a supper at Olmerts in the Jerusalem residence of the head of the Israeli government.
