England captain Terry doubtful for Kazakhstan qualifier

England captain John Terry looks increasingly unlikely to be fit for Saturday's World Cup qualifying match against Kazakhstan at Wembley because of injury.

The Chelsea defender is reported to have suffered a recurrence of his long-standing back problem and is unlikely to be risked.

Reports on Thursday also suggested that he could miss England's qualifier away to Belarus on Wednesday.

Should he not make it, Matthew Upson or Joleon Lescott are favourites to replace him in defence, while Rio Ferdinand would be the most likely captain in his absence.
