
All the countries of Southeastern Europe will face a shortage of electricity in the next five years and now they need urgent investment and greater cooperation, said Albanian Minister of Economy, Energy and Trade Genc Ruli at the economic forum "Krans Montana", which took place in Tirana last few days, MIA reported.
According to Shqip newspaper "Albanian experts had acceded to the concerns of Macedonians and Bulgarians in connection to the energy difficulties, which the whole region was expected to face in the next five years.
More than two decades without planning and investment in the region will lead to significant consequences for the lives of citizens and economic future, writes the edition.
Boyko Nimitz, an energy expert, has estimates that on the Balkans there is increasingly less energy and it is used extremely poor. Croatia, he said, spends two to three times more than Albania, but also two to three times less than Germany.
In Germany goods for 6 dollars are produced from each kilowatt used, while in Albania for only 1.9 dollars for the same energy.
Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro have experienced deep energy crisis and many restrictions in electricity supply in the recent years. Macedonia, despite the great difficulties, has managed to cope with the situation much better, assessed "Shqip".
