Higher pensions from July 1st

From July 1, 2008, pensions will be increased by 10.35%, triple coalition decided on its meeting in Katarino, announced the Minister of Labour and Social Policy Emilia Maslarova.

Age for pensioning will not be increased, specified Maslarova. The social minister clarified that another increase of pensions from October 1st has been discussed but it will affect only a certain part of the pensioners and most probably it will affect around 1.2 million people.

Moreover, an agreement has been reached for calculating the length of service for pensioning with factor 5 and not with factor 3 as it has been so far. Still the profit-yielding criteria for increasing kids’ allowances have not been discussed. 50% of the minimal salary could be given to pensioned grandmothers taking care of their grandkids.

Another agreement has been achieved for introducing of green cards for foreigners, who work in Bulgaria, as people from Bulgarian origin will have advantage. Elaborating the conditions for issuing a green card is imminent. Time limit for receiving social aid has been reduced from 18 to 12 months. 50 % increase from July 1st of the resources for Homes for Raising and Educating Children Deprived of Parental Care has been confirmed.

The deliberation of the idea for increasing of state payment in the silver fun is in store. The resourced for this are supposed to come from the budget surplus, said the former Social Minister Hristina Hristova. Priority encouragement for later pensioning will be also discussed.
