Interoute expands its network in Poland

Interoute, an owner of the most widely developed networks for voice and data transmission of next generation in Europe, opened a new point of presence (PoP) in Krakow. Through it, the companies in the region have received varied package of services, including Ethernet, VPN networks and advanced VoIP with up to 10 Gbps.

Internet usage in Poland has increased by 208% for the period between 2000 and 2007. The new access point, which Interoute gave, will help to meet the need of more high-grade capacity.

Internet in Poland is very developed in business sector, it has entered household consumer sector, too. E-trade has been developed on a small scale until now because of the poor quality of the existing networks of fixed telephone lines and the high cost of Internet access.

However, business and government in Poland are determined to eliminate obstacles to the further development of e-commerce. At present Poland has 10 000 websites of commercial companies and 80% of businesses in the country use the Internet every day. 52% of the companies have their own web sites, and 320 are selling by means of the global network.

According to a report of the European Commission from April 2008, the users of the global network in Bulgaria are only 35%. On the criteria of high-speed Internet access, the country is "on the tail with only 7%.
