International Conference on Defence and Security has been organized today in Plovdiv by Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, the Information Center of NATO, the association George C. Marshall, MO and the Presidency of the European Commission in Bulgaria.
Investments for Defence and Security in the European Union and the special procurement in the context of the new directives of the European Commission (Directive on Defence Procurement; Directive on intra-EU transfers of Defence Products) are the subjects which will open the discussion. Deputy Ministers of Defense Spas Panchev and of Economy and Energy Nina Radeva will present legislative initiatives for a competitive European defence industry. Roy Panzarella, vice president of Lockheed Martin for Central Europe and Eurasia, will speak about "Transparency in international defence business". The participation of representatives of Milara Inc. (USA) and Foster-Miller/QinetiQ has been confirmed.
