Municipal council decided to make the price of public transport ticket in the capital Sofia 1.00 lev from July 1. The price of cards for pensioners, schoolchildren and students remains the same.
There will be a change solely on preferential cards which do not enjoy reduction.
From 9.00 to 60.00 leva will be the price of pensioner cards, depending on the number of lines which will be used and the time for which the card is issued. Similarly, the price for student cards will be between 7.00 and 102 leva.
With 35 votes "For" and 17 "Against" the municipal council legitimated the price of tickets sold in public transport vehicles to be 1 lev, too. The price of that ticket had to be 1.10 leva but it was decided that returning change would distract drivers.
The last caused protests on behalf of the parties of SDS, DSB and BSP which stated that current voting caused municipal transport budget to lose 10 stotinki per trip or 300,000 leva for the total 3 million trips each year.
