Russia wants the chief of UN mission in Kosovo dismissed

Russia proposes that UN chief administrator in Kosovo is dismissed.

The proposal is in connection with the plan of Joachim Ruecker to
terminate the work of UNMIK in Kosovo, said the Russian Foreign
Minister.

Joachim Ruecker is German diplomat who has headed the mission since September 2006.

Last month Russia's Foreign Ministry announced that every step for
transferring the powers of the UN Mission to EU would be a violation of
resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council.

Let us recall that Kosovo proclaimed independence from Serbia on
February 17. The new State was recognized by 42 countries, including
the United States and most EU member states.
