Ryan O'Neal, son arrested on drugs charges

Ryan O'Neal and his son Redmond O'NealwereActor Ryan O'Neal and his son Redmond O'Nealwere arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drugs possession after police found methamphetamines in a search of the actor's home in Malibu, California, authorities said. 

Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore said that Redmond O'Neal, 24, was in possession of methamphetamine, while a vial of the drug was found in Ryan O'Neal's bedroom. The father and son later were released on 10,000 dollars bail each, he said. 

Police searched the home in connection with a possible probation violation by the younger O'Neal, who has two prior drug convictions. 

The elder O'Neal was nominated for an Oscar for the 1970 movie Love Story. His daughter Tatum was booked on drug charges in New York earlier this year.
