Shevchenko's transfer from Chelsea to AC Milan on hold

Andriy ShevchenkoNegotiations for the transfer of Andriy Shevchenko from Chelsea to AC Milan have come to a stop as the English club appears set on selling the striker instead of releasing him on loan.

La Gazzetta dello Sport Friday quoted Milan vice president Adriano Galliani as saying that "the negotiation for Shevchenko is at the moment frozen.

"Milan were available to welcome the player on loan with a right to redeem him (next year), but Chelsea said no because they wanted a full acquisition."

It appears that the English side asked for 20 million euros (29 million dollars) for the Ukrainian striker they bought from Milan in 2006.

Sheva, who turns 32 on September 29, played seven seasons at Milan. He scored 173 goals in 296 games with the Devils and won an Italian Serie A title and a Champions League.

His stint at Chelsea was not as convincing, with injuries also restricting the number of first-team appearances.
