A state-subsidized fund will support projects of Bulgarians abroad

A state-subsidized fund will support projects of Bulgarians abroad in the field of culture and education, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev announced at a meeting with representatives of Bulgarian community in the General Consulate of our country in New York. The idea is set in the strategy of the government for new policy towards Bulgarians abroad and will enable compatriots to apply with their projects for financial support.

According to the Prime Minister, the measures outlined in the document will be another good tool to maintain and intensify relations with Bulgarians abroad. "I highly appreciate that you keep in your hearts and families spiritual traditions and relationship with Bulgaria", the Prime Minister addressed Bulgarians in New York. He pointed out that in our country was already felt a short-fall of trained professionals in various fields and he expressed confidence that Bulgarians abroad would return in the country, as it had happened in countries like Spain and Portugal. The work of Bulgarian institutions is to provide such possibility, stressed the Minister-President.

On the second day of his official visit to the United States the Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev will congratulated the participants and guests of bilateral investment forum in the Harvard Club in New York. The Ambassador Elena Poptodorova will open the forum while the Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin will present the economic prospects in front of our country and the region. The investment climate in Bulgaria and opportunities for businesses in the area of military cooperation will be represented by the Minister of Economy and Energy Petar Dimitrov and the Minister of Defense Nikolai Tsonev.

Within the daily program the Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev will talk to the executive director of the American Jewish Committee, David Harris. Later in Philadelphia the Prime Minister will meet with the Honorary Consul of our country in the States Judge Steven McEwen, and then will set off for Washington, the Government Information Service announced.
