The price of a ticket for public transportation will become one lev from July 1st, said Sofia municipality Mayor Boyko Borisov, cited by BTA.
The reasons for the increase are the increased fuel prices and the impending increase in the price of electricity, Borisov explained. In a report to Sofia municipal council deputy mayor Velizar Stoilov Transport and chairman of the Committee on Transport in SMC Radoslav Toshev offered corrections in the Ordinance to carry passengers and travel conditions with a mass public transportation on the territory of Sofia Municipality.
The proposal was published on the website of SMC for one month's public discussion, said Radoslav Toshev. During this time are expected any objections or suggestions from citizens on the proposed adjustments. They may be submitted through internet or sent on the address of SMC.
According to the draft proposals for amending the ordinance the transferred baggage of passengers outside the permitted will be charged with additional travel coupon and not with just a ticket as it has been till now. The fine remains ten times higher than the price of a ticket for travel.
A refusal to pay the fine will lead to drawing up a bill of 20 leva. The right of free travel will have the staff of the Interior Ministry, the special unit for security and the main directorate of Penalties enforcement at the Ministry of Justice, the Special courier service, DANS, MPs and the authorities for monitoring the road traffic. The financial compensation of the cards for preferential transportation will be paid from due funds of the Ministry of Finance.
The new price of tickets for travel sold by drivers in urban transport will be 1.10 leva. The combined ticket will be 1.40 leva, coupons for five trips - $ 4.25 leva- and for ten trips - 7.50 leva. A daily card for all lines from 1 July will cost 4 leva, 5 days - 15 leva, a month - 50 leva.
The price of cards to students, pensioners, students from Homes for Raising and Educating Children Deprived of Parental Care, do not alter their price from 1 July.
Prices of subscribed cards for disabled and elderly citizens over 68 of age also do not alter their price. With one lev rise prices of tickets for multiple trip for one month for both categories.
