Vint Cerf calls for state intervention in the Internet

Governments must regulate the global network similarly to other public resources, such as motorways, recommended the father of the Internet Vint Surf in an interview for TechCrunch.com.

The proposal of the chief Internet expert in Google was called by journalists nationalization of the network.

The authorities could export the provision of Internet services beyond the competitive field, thinks Cerf, but without specifying how this will improve the efficiency of services.

Deregulation of the industry is an incorrect path of development, said the father of the Internet days earlier in the online edition BetaNews.

According to him, the law should require telecommunications and cable companies to share their infrastructure, which will provide network independence and will deter traffic blocking.

Cerf gives as an example the 2005 agreement year between British Telecom and the government regulator Ofcom, which split the telecommunications giant into two parts, one of which deals with broadband access and its resale to other providers at competitive prices.
